Homework

BACK TO SCHOOL CLIP ART 604

Play this game with a family member to become more familiar with tens facts (sums that equal 10). Keep a tally of who wins each game.

This homework is due on Friday February 27th

SNAP TEN

Equipment

All ace to 10 cards from a normal pack of cards

How to play:

  1. Play in pairs
  2. Players sit opposite each other
  3. Cards are shared between the two players
  4. Each player places a card number up in positions as shown. images (1)
  5. The players continue to place one card in turn on their pile and when the cards add up to 10 they can snap the pile.
  6. The player who snaps correctly wins both piles of cards
  7. If a ten is placed on either pile it is like a wild card and players can snap.

Strategies:

  • Encourage counting on from the largest number
  • Prior to the game discuss which numbers add up to 10

Variations

Child with smallest number wins both cards.

10’s FISH

Equipment

All ace to 10 cards from a normal pack of cards

Spread all cards out face down and players take turns turning any two cards over. If the cards equal to ten then the person who made the pair keeps the cards and has another turn.

In your homework books record some of the ways you made ten by drawing the cards.

Special Memories

We also really enjoyed sharing our Special Family Memories with the class. Some of our special memories included going to the footy, family holidays, new siblings, birthdays in Greece and at home, learning how to surf and spending Christmas at the beach. Thanks for your assistance with this homework task.
